Monday, October 1:
It was the first day of our company's new organisational structure, which had been more clearly laid out on Friday morning. We had held a section meeting to find out that our section had been disbanded, split up and regrouped together with two others. Thus a new boss. I left on Friday after lunch so I wasn't able to keep up with the events as they might happen. On Monday I checked in with one of my colleagues, and was told that there hadn't come any more news of consequence on Friday. And then my boss' boss announced that he was leaving the company. Thus the first news of consequence.
Tuesday-Thursday, October 2-4:
I attended a three-day class from work called Iterative Application Development: From Use Case to Architecture at 7N in Holte. I was a bit disappointed with the class as it did not meet my expectations. The first 1-1/2 days covered subjects that were not in the published course description, subjects that are within my primary work area and that I could have easily skipped. The last 1-1/2 days covered the subjects which interested me, and which I expected to be the sole focus of the class. Unfortunately with only 1-1/2 days left, the subjects were covered much too quickly, and with insufficient exercises and discussion.
I suppose now that I have a new boss the subject of getting the right training and eduction will be discussed soon. I look forward to that.
Thursday, October 4 (evening):
We held a good C3A tapegroup session in Åse's basement. I am feeling more and more confident in my C3A dancing. I didn't refer once during the evening to my C3A definitions list, or hold them close to me like a security blanket.
Saturday, October 6:
Aksel and I went into downtown Copenhagen to check out the Turkish import stores on colourful Istedgade. Aksel was down in the area last week and noticed some sets of porcelain dishes that might be for us. I was pleasantly surprised by what I saw. Afterwards we wandered a block over to parallel street Vesterbrogade, the commercial heart of the Vesterbro neighborhood. I stopped into a used bookstore on the side street, which I had never seen before and bought a copy of The Gold of Troy by Robert Payne in the Danish translation, Troyas Guld. We wandered up trendy Værnedamsvej, and then on Gammel Kongevej where we ate lunch at Turkish restaurant, Sultan, across the street from the Copenhagen Planetarium and the Copenhagen Lakes. That evening we watched Steven Spielberg's film "Munich".
Sunday, October 7:
I took it easy today, as I have been slowly coming down with a bit of a cold (cough cough cough). The temperature was so nice today we ate lunch on the terrace. I suspect there will not be any more weekend days like this left in the season.
